Newark Housing Authority Scholarship Foundation Opens 2025 Application Cycle with Informational Sessions for Students
Newark, NJ — April 3, 2025 — The Newark Housing Authority Scholarship Foundation (NHASF) is proud to announce that applications are now open for its 2025 Scholarship Program.
The NHASF provides financial support to college-bound seniors living in Newark Housing Authority public housing or Housing Choice Voucher households who demonstrate academic achievement and a commitment to higher education.
Each NHASF scholarship award is valued at 5,000 per school year ($2,500 per semester), renewable for up to two years for students attending two-year colleges and up to four years for students attending four-year institutions.
Now in its 36th year, the NHASF has awarded more than $2.5 million to over 500 students since its founding in 1988, helping economically disadvantaged Newark students pursue their academic dreams and build brighter futures.
To ensure students and families are informed and supported throughout the application process, the Foundation is also hosting a series of in-person informational sessions at community housing sites across the city. A final general session, open to all Newark Housing Authority students, will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at The Waterfront, 2 Grafton Ave., Newark, NJ. A full list of session dates and locations is included in the informational flyer.To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a current high school senior (Class of 2025)
- Be a legal resident in Newark Housing Authority public housing or a Housing Choice Voucher Program household for at least 12 months
- Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Complete the FAFSA
- Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two- or four-year college for the 2025–2026 academic year
