The Hood Report: February Edition
Community Media Spotlight: Our Partnership with PUSHH
We are excited to share an update on our Community Media Training Program in partnership with PUSHH (Peers Understanding Strategies for Healing and Help)! π€πΈπ¬
PUSHH is a Newark-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering at-risk and justice-involved youth through life skills training, advocacy, and community outreach. Together, we are equipping West Ward youth with storytelling and media production skills to document their experiences and amplify their voices.
So far, our youth participants have:
Recorded personal audio narratives capturing their lived experiences in Newark.
Learned photography techniques and participated in their own community photoshoot.
π₯ Up next: Videography!
Participants will explore storytelling through film, learning how to shoot and edit their own short visual pieces.
Stay tuned for our upcoming showcase, where we will highlight the incredible work of these young storytellers! More details coming soon.
